Cookies?
No. Like most sites, there's nothing about this one that requires me to remember who you are between visits. If you want to personalise the look of this site, use your browser's equivalent of userContent.css.
Logs are however collected for stats generation, and that includes IP addresses, request strings and referrer information.
Aside from this site, if you have general concerns about cookies:
- Learn how to manage your own cookie jar.
- Use NoScript. Consider Ghostery.
- Be aware that third party extensions may also be storing information outside of the usual browser cookie system. Flash is one of these: consider a cron entry that recursively removes $HOME/.adobe/ and $HOME/.macromedia/ (if you use other Adobe products you might want to be more discriminating about what you remove).
- Remember that you are responsible for your use of your tools. Use Free Software for a better chance of understanding what your tools are actually doing.
Note that a bug (or oversight, really) in the current ESR (24) of Firefox prevents cookie management in private browsing mode. Hopefully it will be fixed soon: Bug 823941.
