Your man is controlled by the right joystick and weapon selection is either by the Electronic Book or the keys 1-6 on the keyboard (0 to disarm). Pressing 'P' will pause the game then either 'R' to restart or 'BREAK' to end the game.

The object of the game is to escape from the Dark Pit, a maze consisting of 64 complex rooms. In the Dark Pit there are locks of various colors that will need to be opened. This is done automatically if you have the right key! The first weapon you will find is the shotgun (No. 2 on the keyboard), this uses cartridges which are found in groups of 5. All other weapons and the shield use power, this is collected in the form of lightening bolts.

Welcome to the Dark Pit! The object of this game is to escape from the Dark Pit. This will involve killing monsters, collecting keys to open doors, and finding your way around the maze.

Keys and doors are coloured one of three colours, red, yellow or blue. Doors are only opened by a key of the same colour. You also score a small bonus for opening doors.

There are four weapons, a shield and a useful device (you will have to determine it's use). Once picked up, these are selected using keys 1-6 on your book/keyboard.

Note: you do not need to press your fire button to use your shield. Once selected, it will be used automatically when it is needed (provided you have the power).

All but one of the above six items (the shotgun) requier electricity. This is collected in the form of power packs worth 1, 2 or 3 units.

Pressing 'P' on your keyboard or '10' on the book will pause the game. Play can be resumed by pressing 'R' on the keyboard or '11' on the book. During pause mode, pressing 'BREAK' on the keyboard or '12' on the book will quit the game.
